"Go the extra mile. Think beyond sports." That was the advice that former football star and Baton Rouge native Warrick Dunn gave to the student athletes at WAFB's annual Warrick Dunn Awards banquet.

"Young people don't just want to be great athletes," he said.  "Be great people."

The banquet was held at the Belle of Baton Rouge on Thursday, Jan. 19. Dunn's remarks were part of a two-hour program which culminated with the 2011 Sportsline Player of the Year award. The award was given to Landon Collins from Dutchtown High School. There were eight other finalists.

The banquet was attended by parents, coaches, and friends.
