Animal Rescue Groups Team Up for Pet Adopt-A-Thon | Pets
Gonzales - The Southern Louisiana Animal Foster Caregiver Network is hosting a Rescue Lovers Adopt-A-Thon. This is a cooperative effort in which multiple animal groups get together to find homes for homeless dogs and cats.
The event will be held on July 15, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at 220 South Burnside Drive, Gonzales, LA 70737 (two doors down from Cal’s Bakery).
Some of the groups participating include America’s Dog Pit Bull Rescue, Lovers Not Biters Dog Rescue, The Pit Stop Rescue, Rescue.Me Animal Welfare, Community Cat Coalition, Shelter Animal Allies, Friends of West Baton Rouge Parish Animal Shelter and others.
“As a rescuer and foster for many companion animals over the years, having a new adoption venue not only for my adoptable animals but for all the small and independent rescuers, is a wonderful opportunity to bring them to the public in hopes that they will find a loving forever family. Sometimes we even meet other caring people who want to get involved in helping to save them! Every opportunity is so important,” Helen Morales, Co-Organizer of the event.
From Mary Simon, Co-Founder/Vice President of Lovers Not Biters Dog Rescue:
“The Rescue Lovers Adoption Event is a powerful event in that we are bringing together those passionate rescuers from across South Louisiana who work tirelessly to save the lives of animals in need. The animals we save were once facing certain death in high kill shelters or abandoned on the streets. These caring rescuers step up, nurse them back to health, giving them the love and proper training they need. We are working together to create a world where good-natured companion animals, regardless of age or breed, are not euthanized in shelters because they didn’t have a home.”
